Doxa, a musical artiste, stand-up poet, and friend, with a wealth of talent, uses his debut single titled ‘Release’, released to the public today, the 15th day of December, 2021, as a tribute to a friend and brother, Victor Ace, whose lyric titled ‘Black is Power’, arose from a poetry oration into a piece with a titular and significant influence on listeners and colleagues in his art, but died in an unfortunate motor accident in December of 2020.
The tonal quality in Doxa’s ‘Release’, for me, is pitched with strong emotions, that I could but only perceive out of, patterns of lamentation and grieving rhetorics.
I would love for you to listen to his track, and for you to also listen in to his lyrics. Death’s manacle may be unpoetic, but it is not the fear of it that scare us: it is the fear of becoming consumed with an unhealthy reality that we are not prepared to face by merely abusing the pure poetry of living.
